“Maus” — This week’s book club pick
For those of you not yet in the loop, I’ve set a goal for myself to read one book a week throughout the summer. More importantly, I’ve invited you to join me! Check out the full list here: Kate Foo’s Summer Book Club or feel free to read whatever is on YOUR list.
I finished up the first book on my list, The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, earlier this morning. Did anyone else read it, too? What did you think? On tumblr earlier in the week, I complained about reading books that were so awkwardly translated, which was my initial impression. Despite that, I found myself curled up in my reading spot for the better part of Saturday, burning through almost 300 pages in an afternoon! Crazy stuff, kids.
But, to quote the philosopher Jay-Z, it’s on to the next one. This week I’ll be readingMaus, the critically acclaimed graphic novel by Art Spieglman, and our first “official selection.”
Next Sunday, July 8th, at 8:00PM EST, I’ll host a live chat for all of us to discuss the book, share questions, and probably end up talking about something completely irrelevant. A link to the chat will be posted an hour or so before things get started.
What are you reading this week?
